Simple Lifestyle and Generosity

Ray Simpson speaks of how the decision to embrace a simpler lifestyle can permit you to spend more time on important aspects of pilgrimage. Wise choices as to how you divide your time between work for pay, rest, recreation and worship provide you with more opportunities to be generous with money or time.

On this page you will find links to organizations that provide opportunities for service to those in need. It may be that your church provides you with good opportunities to serve those outside your church. Perhaps God is guiding you to work through another organization to help needy people in your own country or overseas. There are very real benefits in working with a Christian organization but there are other benefits when Christians join with other caring people.

God is Willing to Guide You

What is most important to remember is that God (possibly through wise Christian friends and through prayer) is willing to guide you on your pilgrimage. This includes wise guidance to you about your service to others.

  • It is possible to look at the vastness of needs in the world and to say, “I give up, Just too much for me.”

  • Another unwise reaction is to say to God, “This is just so important I will try to do it all.”

  • A better reaction is to ask God, “Lord, how and where do you want me to join in?”

Ray Mayhew Speaks out for an Unselfish Lifestyle

Simple Lifestyle and Giving go hand In hand. Ray Mayhew (EMBEZZLEMENT: THE CORPORATE SIN OF CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIANITY?) writes about the way in which the main focus of giving among the early Christians was to help the needy.
