A Personal Rule

[More Menu

For a person who enters a monastery or convent and sets out to become a member, the leaders will tell you what the rule is and remind you when you don't quite come up to the mark.

If you are living out in the wider world but seeking to follow in principle the rule of a religious order, wisdom and flexibility are needed in setting up the pattern of life that you seek to follow. One thing that is vital is to have a Godly balance in life. Jesus Christ taught us by word and example that we need to balance times of prayer and contemplation with times of action.

Many of the links that you find here will help you to live with God and for God in the World.

The actual arrangements to live as a religeous communtiy of people who are spread round the secular community must be more flexible. With this flexibility it is possible to retain core principles of "A Personal Rule."

I hope that along with suggestions for sites to link to, you will send short essays about what a difference it has made to your life to follow the ways of such a group.

In some cases the community will be quite small, in other cases worldwide. The issue is does the grouphelp people to live in a Christike way.
